Otto Carius was one of the most famous armor commands of the Wehrmacht of the Second World War.Otto Carius started as a loading contactor on a tank 38 (t). In June 1943 he was promoted to lieutenant
and led at Leningrad the 2nd company of the heavy tank department 502. The tank department 502 became
as one of the first with the new tank Tiger 1 equipped. In spring 1944 destroyed
Otto Carius, meanwhile oberleutnant, along with a total of 8 tiger tanks in a battle in Dünaburg,
a large number of russian tanks and this prevented a breakthrough after Dünaburg. With 150 tank shoots
ee was one of the most successful tank commanders of the Second World War. He received as the highest award
Knight's cross of the iron cross with oak leaves. In 1960, Otto Carius published the well-known book "Tiger in the mud".
